They take pride in the convenience is the machines in Tokyo, for example. And they express disbelief that underage drinking of alcohol would be an issue here with those machines that offer beer or sake.Richardhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14492461563889268879noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5103914919249706024.post-80893202418265467882013-09-30T18:12:47.306-07:002013-09-30T18:12:47.306-07:00In my case, my friend got sick (though I was strug...In my case, my friend got sick (though I was struggling to breathe some on the climb itself). He doesn't get altitude sickness - he's climbed the Swiss Alps with no issues - so he thinks it might have been something he ate. We're not at all sure, though. Be nice to try it again, either way...Belthazarhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04500556529161620550noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5103914919249706024.post-65999659530520775312013-09-30T18:09:28.130-07:002013-09-30T18:09:28.130-07:00I've been to Koya-san. She also had to turn back because she developed altitude sickness. I've heard that it can be really harsh, but that most tourists find it easy. I'm not sure if it's just an individual thing, or if some of us are just on the weak side!Orchid64https://www.blogger.com/profile/07132543155589881288noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5103914919249706024.post-90828378673491748192013-09-30T12:05:23.439-07:002013-09-30T12:05:23.439-07:00I find it both cool and disturbing for the reasons...I find it both cool and disturbing for the reasons you state. I think that it might actually keep some people alive in bad situations, but it does also create a trash problem. Fortunately, most of the time, there are mechanisms in place to get to the trash, though I've heard that is not nearly so on Fuji!Orchid64https://www.blogger.com/profile/07132543155589881288noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5103914919249706024.post-35054296992927932032013-09-30T12:04:19.098-07:002013-09-30T12:04:19.098-07:00One of my former students, who was a regular climb...One of my former students, who was a regular climber/hiker, told me about Koyasan. Makes it easy to stay hydrated and/or fed. Also, however, can lead to more litter.
